This year’s Stamp Day will be held at the end of November in Allschwil, in the Canton of Basel-Land. The miniature sheet with surcharge dedicated to the event features a collection of typical Allschwil buildings around the village square and the Church of St. Peter and Paul. Allschwil, located west of Basel near the French border, is an old Sundgau farming village. It is almost like a little part of Alsace in Switzerland. Despite being the most populous municipality in the canton, Allschwil is intent on preserving its village character. The miniature sheet shows the numerous well-maintained half-timbered houses which can be found in the village and are so typical of the region.
